The pace of offensive actions of the occupying army and the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Bakhmut area as of the previous day, June 1, remains low. Russian troops conducted an unsuccessful offensive

in the area of Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Bila Gora.

This is stated in the report of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Analysts, referring to the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky, report that the occupiers went on the defensive, reduced active actions and increased artillery fire. Meanwhile, with

Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said Ukrainian troops retained control over the southwestern outskirts and the entrance to the city of Bakhmut.

In turn, the leader of the PMC "Wagner" Yevgeny Prigozhin claimed that only about 90 "Wagnerites" remained in Bakhmut and they would leave by June 5. They say he wants mercenaries to fight at the front, where they could perform all the tasks on their own.

Over the past day, June 1, Russian forces carried out limited ground strikes along the Avdiivka-Donetsk line. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that the Russians did not conduct offensive operations in the Avdiivka direction, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled all Russian attacks near Marinka in the Donetsk region.

In addition, one Russian blogger claimed that the Russian army

conducted assault operations in the direction of Pobeda and Novomykhailivka.

Geolocation footage allegedly shows the 10th Tank Regiment operating in the Avdiivka direction.

ISW analysts emphasize that Russian forces on June 1 did not conduct any confirmed or declared ground attacks in the western part of the Donetsk region.
