Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon has expressed concern about the situation in Afghanistan.

The EPA reports to TASS that he made the remarks during a speech at the second central Asian and European Union (EU) summit in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.

The Tajik head of state has asked for help to strengthen the border with Afghanistan and has considered it important to take urgent action on this.

Emomali Rakhmon has stressed that terrorism is not currently adequate to combat narcotics effectively: "I hope the support of the European Union will increase."

The Tajik head of state has pointed out that Afghanistan, especially the north of this country, has become one of the largest sources of international terrorism and drug production in the world.
