Scientists from NASA studied the latest data from observations of space, which carried out the Kepler telescope in the late summer of 2018, before a few months later its mission was abandoned. As a result, astronomers found that at the end of its "life" the telescope discovered three new exoplanets. However, only two of them have acquired the status of planets.

Writes about it Space.

The researchers found that all three objects orbit at a distance of about 400 light years from us around three different red dwarf stars.

These exoplanets belong to the class of mini-Neptunes, although smaller than the planet Neptune itself. It is now known that they revolve around red dwarf stars that are not very bright and cooler than the Sun and have a rarefied atmosphere. Scientists believe that these planets are unsuitable for life.

According to scientists, for 9 years of its work, the Kepler space telescope has discovered several thousand exoplanets, although only 2660 received the desired status. To date, astronomers using various telescopes have been able to confirm the existence of more than 5000,<> exoplanets.

Previously, scientists said that in the closest part of space to us, at a distance of 90 light years from our planet, they discovered a new exoplanet, the characteristics of which are very similar to the parameters of the Earth.

And in late May, scientists again reported that using the TESS space telescope they had discovered a newexoplanet belonging to the type of super-Neptune. It is about 26% larger than the Sun in size and 12% larger than our star in mass. A year on the planet lasts almost 4 Earth days, that is, during this time TOI-2498 b makes a complete revolution around its star. This is a hot planet, because the temperature here is about 1200 degrees Celsius.
