In Poland, new road signs with the name Kaliningrad are being installed - from now on the city is called Krulewiec.

The decision on this was made by a government commission.

It is known that the complete replacement of road signs is planned to be completed by mid-June. In particular, new signs appeared in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship from the national road No. 51 in the village of Dywity and Dobre Mista, as well as near the settlements of Woławki and Lutry along the national road No. 57.

"In total, they plan to replace 26 road signs. Polish services have already installed 14 banners with the new name Krulewiec. Another 12 are planned to be replaced by mid-June", – stated in the message.

After decommunization in Poland, the Lithuanian government proposed to change the name "Kaliningrad". The deputies addressed the corresponding proposal on May 12 to the State Commission of the Lithuanian Language.

According to politicians, today's name "Kaliningrad" has a Russian narrative and originated during the aggressive actions of the Soviet Union during the Second World War. Deputies say that it is necessary to rename not only the city, but the entire region. Probably, the name will be replaced by Karaluchus.

It should be noted that the Commission for the Standardization of Geographical Names outside Poland announced that from now on the names "Królewiec" and "Krulewiec region" will be used in the country instead of "Kaliningrad" and "Kaliningrad region".

The Kremlin calls Poland's decision to rename Kaliningrad and the region "bordering on madness."
