Canada has introduced a new scholarship program for refugee students from Ukraine who have decided to pursue higher education in this North American country.

This was reported by the Canada-Ukrainian Foundation.

The new scholarship was announced jointly by the Canada-Ukrainian Foundation and the Shevchenko Foundation. President of the Shevchenko Foundation Borys Balan said that a number of special grants had been introduced to help Ukrainians who had arrived in Canada since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.

"This scholarship will meet a critical need of Ukrainian students who now need to realize their educational ambitions in a new land," Balan said.

Thus, the initial contribution of the Canadian-Ukrainian Foundation in the amount of 300 thousand. USD will allow each of the 60 successful Ukrainian applicants to receive $ 5,<> to pay tuition after graduation.

The foundation noted that many Ukrainian students arrived in Canada after February 24, 2022 under an emergency travel permit (CUAET). This allows them to work, study and stay in the country until they return home, when it is safe there.

"We look forward to more innovative ways to help Ukrainians in their time of need," said Orest Sklerenko, President and CEO of the Canada-Ukraine Foundation.
