The State Committee for Refugees and Refugees of the Republic of Azerbaijan (GMKIDK) and the World Bank have signed an agreement worth $2 million for the Project to Improve the Living Conditions of Refugees in Azerbaijan. The project is funded by the State and Peace Foundation, run by the World Bank, which will be implemented within three years.

AAPA-Economics reports that the project aims to increase civil activism, technical skills and access to income for displaced families in Azerbaijan.

"The World Bank is very pleased to continue its long-term support for displaced communities in Azerbaijan through this new grant," sarah Michael, country manager for Azerbaijan at the World Bank, said in a statement. "Today, in a climate where the prospect of many displaced people returning to their homes is clearer, we hope that the lessons learned from the implementation of this grant will help to strengthen many of the services needed for the sake of a more prosperous future for displaced persons," he said.

Grant will support displaced persons through activities such as the following:

• Vocational training and training to help you acquire specialized skills

• Financial literacy, financial management and good business experience training to help displaced people who will participate in the project manage their businesses more effectively;

• Increase civil participation and social unity skills to help displaced persons participate actively in their communities.

The project is expected to directly contribute to improving the welfare and livelihood prospects of displaced persons, as well as strengthening the government's potential to plan housing support programs for displaced people.
