A woman who proudly wears a beard challenged doctors who said she would never get pregnant by giving birth to her biological son.

Writes about it dailystar.co.uk.

Genevieve Wayancourt understood that something was wrong when she never had a menstrual cycle at the age of 18.

At the age of 14, the woman began to grow facial hair, which began with thick sideburns and mustache.

The 39-year-old women's empowerment coach and speaker was initially embarrassed by her hair. But after learning that she had polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the Canadian decided to take it.

She said: "I learned how to handle it well and overcame the fertility problems associated with PCOS. Hair and no menstrual cycle until I was 18 were my first symptoms. After that, I had maybe one or two cycles a year, and in some years there were none at all. I've always been a kid with thicker body hair than others, and my facial hair started growing around 14 or 15 years old. It all started with dark sideburns and whiskers and then progressed over 10 years."

Genevieve had a hard time as a teenager because she struggled to conform to other girls and women. Although she struggled with her symptoms at first, then she accepted them after working on her thinking.

"I had no idea I would end up falling in love with all parts of myself," she added.

Of course, from time to time she experiences a hate, but she learned to just ignore it.

She met her parenting friend and partner, Marty Robitaille, 49, on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend in 2007.

Three years later, they got married and now live as friends and raise their children together.

Genevieve now wears a beard and has two children: 18-year-old Emma, for whom she is a foster mother, and 4-year-old Duncan.

"When I was first diagnosed, the doctor told me I probably wouldn't be able to conceive a child. It broke my heart and haunted me for most of my adult life because I always wanted to be a mom and it instilled doubts in my mind. Every missed period, failed attempt or miscarriage for many years exacerbated this fear. I would like doctors to stop saying such things to PCOS patients, because it is no longer true and robs us of hope. It was difficult for me to have a healthy pregnancy and I suffered some losses, but in the end I had a son," she shared.

By his example, Genevieve wants to inspire women on the path of PCOS and hirsutism.
