This First International Congress was held at a significant moment for Cuba, whose Government is preparing a "Comprehensive Policy for Children and Youth" that will soon be presented to the National Assembly of People's Power.

In the closing remarks, Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and head of its Department of Attention to the Social Sector, highlighted the academic, cultural and social conception of this Congress, which allowed the approach to some of the most recent and innovative research and proposals in this field.

In recounting the main achievements achieved by Cuba in this area, the party leader mentioned the Constitution of the Republic, which provides special protection to children, adolescents and young people, and the recently approved Family Code, which includes norms that legitimize the rights of the youngest.

Broche Lorenzo stressed that despite the efforts made by the Revolution to guarantee equal opportunities for all, there are children and young people who remain in a situation of social disadvantage.

In this regard, he pointed out that currently in Cuba programs that were successfully developed, starting in the year 2,000, are resumed as an expression of the Government's political will to strengthen its strategies aimed at the most vulnerable population sectors.

"This is the context that reaffirms the need to formulate a policy for children and youth, which provides us with a law in the country," emphasized the member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee.

From the casualness of her few years, the student of Basic Secondary Lucia Travieso summoned those who are in charge of educating the youngest generations, to do so from creativity, "to ensure that school and family are true spaces of love."

In the context of the activity, several institutions and projects that have stood out for their work with children and adolescents were recognized.

In a special way, President Díaz-Canel was presented with the work Viva Cuba, a painting by Máisel López, "as a gift from the youngest to a great repairer of dreams."
