On Thursday, June 1, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Moldova.

This was reported on the official page of the head of state.

During a conversation with the German Chancellor, Zelensky stressed the need to continue defensive support for our country and, above all, to strengthen the capabilities of Ukrainian air defense due to the escalation of Russian missile terror against Ukraine.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Olaf Scholz for supporting the Ukrainian formula of peace and willingness to join its implementation. The two leaders discussed joint preparations for the Global Peace Summit and the involvement of the widest possible range of participants.

"The leaders agreed that an important factor of pressure on Russia is the strengthening of sanctions against the aggressor, in particular by including in the new EU sanctions package the most effective restrictions against the Russian economy," the statement said.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned the latest Russian attacks on Ukraine in a telephone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelensky on May 30.
