President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky insists that the creation of a coalition of suppliers of Patriot air defense systems is necessary for the country to successfully pass the period before receiving F-16 fighter jets.

Zelensky said this during an answer to questions from European Pravda at the end of the summit of the European Political Community in Moldova.

Zelensky also thanked Western allies, primarily the United States, for agreeing to transfer F-16s to Ukraine, although for this, according to him, some partners had to be "pressured." However, he reminded that combat aircraft would arrive in the Armed Forces of Ukraine only after a certain time.

"We need modern fighter jets. This is not just a matter of our protection. This is a matter of safety of our people. But the fighters still have to live. We will do it without fail, but for this we need protection," he said.

According to Zelensky, as long as Ukraine does not have aircraft, more Patriot is needed.

"Why the Patriots? Because they are capable of shooting down all types of Russian missiles. That's it. We have many other systems, but Patriots are Patriots," the president added.

We will add that President Zelensky discussed with several European prime ministers the supply of new air defense systems to Ukraine and the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters.
