Violence between Arab clans has occurred in war-torn Syria, with two people dead and 49 injured, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The British-based monitoring NGO said a conflict broke out at a wedding in Syria's central province of Homs on Monday between two rival clans. The dispute escalated into a collision, with hand grenades being thrown and there was also gunfire.

The tragedy, involving representatives of the al-Aqidat and al-Hadidin clans, is due to an unspecified old dispute, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. He explains similar cases in Syria with the insecurity and proliferation of weapons in areas of the country controlled by President Bashar al-Assad's forces.
