Russian publicist Roman Popkov, who has recently lived in Ukraine, was officially called the "organizer of the terrorist attack" in St. Petersburg, as a result of which the so-called "military ship", propagandist Maxim Fomin, known as Vladlen Tatarsky, was liquidated in St. Petersburg.

This was reported on Thursday, June 1, in the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (TFR).

"During the investigation, it was established that journalist Roman Popkov, who lives in Ukraine, was involved in the crime. He is wanted and charged in absentia with a crime under Part 4 of Art. Art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (directing the commission of a terrorist act)", – stated in the message.

According to the investigation, Popkov actively communicated on social networks with the accused in the case of the "terrorist attack" Daria Trepova. Allegedly, it was on his instructions that Trepova brought a statuette stuffed with explosives to a café to meet with a "military correspondent".

Today, June 1, the court extended Daria Trepova's preventive measure in the form of detention until September 2.

The TFR also recalled that earlier in the criminal case, a citizen of Ukraine Yuri Denisov was also put on the wanted list. According to the FSB, he collected information about Tatarsky.

It is known that Roman Popkov lives in Kyiv. He confirmed his communication with Trepova, but, according to him, it did not concern the assassination attempt on Tatarsky. Popkov called the allegations of his involvement in the murder a lie.

In the 2000s, Popkov was the leader of the Moscow branch of the National Bolshevik Party. After Russia's invasion of Ukraine, he began participating in broadcasts and events of former State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev, who lives in Ukraine. Popkov has repeatedly spoken out in support of the activities of the Russian Volunteer Corps.

Recall that the explosion, which killed propagandist Vladlen Tatarsky, occurred on April 2 in a café in the center of St. Petersburg.
