In the Kharkiv region, due to the detonation of a projectile, two cadets of the State Emergency Service were killed. Four teachers of the National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine were suspended from work.

The tragedy happened to cadets of the National University of Civil Protection of Ukraine. They dismantled the shell to make a dummy out of it and died. Currently, 4 people have been suspended because of this.

"The SES commission is already conducting an internal investigation. Currently, 4 persons responsible for the educational process are suspended. We are interested in ensuring that the perpetrators receive a fair punishment. This is a great pain and irreparable loss. More information will be made public after the investigation is completed," the SES said.

Suspilne published the details of the tragedy, citing its source. According to an eyewitness, everything happened in the dormitory where cadets live and study. They were allegedly forced to disassemble the projectile.

"It happened around 14:30 p.m. on May 31 in the dormitory where cadets live and study. It was the order of the head. Two guys tried to remove the explosive from the shell to make a dummy. The cadets were given a condition that if they did not do this, they would not be released for dismissal, and the entire platoon and course would be forced to run around the stadium. Other cadets were sitting in the auditorium, which is located nearby. At first it was quiet, then there was an explosion. At first they thought there was a hit," the source said.

The source added that "the shell was dismantled without the supervision of the chief and teachers. The rest of the leadership was on duty at this time, the platoon commander and teachers went to lunch, others were lining up with other cadets."

Spokesman of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office Dmytro Chubenko said that the deceased were 21 and 22 years old, the cadets were studying in the 3rd year. The investigation into the tragedy is ongoing.
