The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Gerardo Peñalver, will participate in the Ministerial Meeting of friends of the BRICS, to be held in South Africa, the island's Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.

According to the source, the occasion will be propitious to highlight the objectives of this Caribbean nation in its presidency of the G-77 and the historical ties and brotherhood that unite the peoples and governments of Cuba and South Africa.

During his visit, Peñalver will hold bilateral meetings with delegations attending the event and with high-level leaders of the sister nation, the communication said.

The Cuban delegation is made up of Rodolfo Benítez, director general of Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Enrique Orta González, ambassador of Cuba in South Africa.
