International Children's Day: history of the holiday
Every year, on the first day of summer, June 1, International Children's Day is celebrated around the world. The decision to create such a holiday was made during the session of the International Democratic Federation of Women in 1949 in Paris. The establishment of such a day was initiated due to the fact that in many countries of the world there were many children without parents and a roof over their heads after the Second World War.
For the first time, International Children's Day was celebrated in 50 countries in the following 1950. Since then, the event has become one of the largest in the world. The main purpose of the holiday is to draw the attention of the public, government agencies and organizations to the problems aimed at implementing various measures to ensure the well-being of children in the world.
There is even a separate symbol of this day - the green flag, which depicts the planet Earth, and around it - figures of children of different races and nationalities.
