At the 68th meeting of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNHCR) in Sofia, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan was elected a member of the Executive Board of the organization.

The EPA reports that Turkey, Israel, Albania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Italy, Lithuania, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan have nominated five representatives of the European region.

In addition to Azerbaijan, four European Union member states (Lithuania, Czech Republic, Italy, Bulgaria) were elected winners of 11 countries that had nominated tense elections.

Fuad Naguyev, chairman of the State Tourism Agency, thanked everyone who participated in the vote and noted that Azerbaijan would prefer equality and justice, as always.

The chairman of the agency said that since Azerbaijan became a full member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization in 2001, the organization has expanded successful cooperation and cooperation with member states and will contribute to the effectiveness of the Work of the Executive Council in its future work.

Fuad Naguyev pointed out that the future of global tourism depends on the joint implementation of necessary measures.

The meeting was attended by Ramiz Hasanov, an ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and the Andorra Kingdom of Azerbaijan, as well as a permanent representative of the World Tourism Organization, and Husein Huseinov, an extraordinary and powerful ambassador to Bulgaria of Azerbaijan.
