The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) on Thursday called a 'khap mahapanchayat' at Souram village in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh to protest against the wrestlers' protest. In this, the issues of ongoing protest by the wrestlers were discussed. At the khap mahapanchayat, BKU spokesperson Rakesh Tikait has said that the khap representatives will meet the President. Khap and farmer leaders from UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Punjab attended the event.

Rakesh Tikait said that wrestlers do not belong to any caste, their caste is tricolor. We also carry the flag of the country, not our party's abroad. If we don't get justice, we will fight this battle across the country.

Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been accused of sexual harassment. Wrestlers Brij Bhushan are demanding the arrest of Sharan Singh.

Rakesh Tikait said, "We have included the agenda of women wrestlers in our monthly panchayats and meetings. This agenda will also be discussed in every meeting of ours. Whatever decision the khap panchayats take on the issue of wrestlers, it will be accepted. The next khap panchayat will be held on June 11 at Baju village in Muzaffarnagar district.
