British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has confirmed that he supports Ukraine's accession to NATO.

He stated this during a conversation with journalists at the summit of the European political community in Moldova, informs PA Media.

"I agree with the NATO secretary general that Ukraine's rightful place is in NATO, and what we are also talking about with Ukraine now is ensuring that they have all the support they need for a successful counteroffensive," he said.

Sunak said he was proud to support Ukraine and added that he wanted to be sure that "we will do everything possible to make Ukraine successful."

"We want to make sure that we have created security mechanisms for Ukraine for the long term, so we are sending a very strong signal to Vladimir Putin that we are not going anywhere, we will be here and will continue to support Ukraine – not only now, but also in the years to come," he stressed.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO foreign ministers would discuss further steps towards Ukraine's accession to the alliance.

In addition, we previously reported that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready to become a member of NATO. The country is waiting for the Alliance to be ready to receive us.
