In the Carpathian region, a unique exhibit was presented - a plaster cast of an animal of the Ice Age. In the early XX century, a shaggy rhino was found in a field near the Carpathian Starun. TSN told about the animal that became a world sensation in its project "Ukraine of the Ice Age". It was seen by caring people and agreed with the Poles to present a unique exhibit in their historical homeland.

This is the most recognizable prehistoric animal, its copies in more than a hundred natural history museums in the world - Krakow, London, Salzburg, Tokyo. And now in the Carpathian region - exactly where this shaggy rhino was found. In 1929, he was pulled out of an ozocerite mine near the village of Starunya, and immediately made a plaster cast. "This is the only integral, almost integral, because there were no horns, hooves - but this state of preservation of the exhibit with soft fabrics, wool has been preserved - this is a huge rarity," museum workers say.

The priceless find is stored in Krakow, as agreed before the excavations were agreed by Polish scientists and the owner of the mine. The next expedition appeared on the field, where they found a contemporary mammoth, in the early two thousandths. Her research proved that the Carpathian land hides many more interesting things. "The main thing is that we have determined where to look. We managed to find the boundaries of the same swamp where prehistoric animals discovered 100 years ago drowned," says Maciej Kotarba, professor at the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection at the Scientific and Technical University of Krakow.

And 4 years ago, TSN initiated new searches and scientists came to Starun from Kyiv with georadar to scan soils. However, the excavations did not come - there were no people willing to invest time and money to dig up a new world sensation in Ukraine. However, among the viewers who watched the 5-episode TSN project, "Ice Age Ukraine", there were those who were not indifferent. We ordered a copy of the ancient rhino from the Krakow Museum and brought it home. "The sculpture arrived 1.5 years ago. And it was the war that prevented it from being opened. We have been thinking for a long time about this question whether to open it. We decided that it was worth it," says the park manager.

"Park of Earth History" near Staruni, where they found a unique exhibit. What has so far been seen only in the showcase of the Krakow Museum, Ukrainian scientists can now see up close, and they have a lot of questions.

Continuation of the search is one of the biggest dreams of Precarpathian scientists. But the cost of excavations do not even dare to voice. They only say that 100 years ago the expedition cost the Poles 8 thousand zlotys, the money for which could be kept for a year and a half to maintain a whole museum. "In today's conditions, talking about money is absolutely unblessed. If we gather a circle of like-minded people - people who are interested, then believe me, money is what is found. We are integrating Europe, and I think that the old rhinoceros can help Ukrainian science to integrate into Europe as well," says Lubomyr Ilyn, Vice-Rector of King Danylo University.

Therefore, after the victory of Ukraine, scientists plan to return to the issue of excavations near Starunya.
