The Prosecutor's Office requested the immunity of the leader of GERB and MP in the 49th National Assembly Boyko Borisov Boyko Metodiev Borisovis the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The proposal was prepared in connection with pre-trial proceedings, known as "Barcelonagate", in which evidence of a crime under Art. 253 of the National Assembly - money laundering.
The Prosecutor's Office points out that from the evidence collected, it can be concluded that the former Prime Minister has provided third parties acquired as a result of a crime with funds for the purchase and rental of real estate abroad.

We recall that only a few days ago - on May 25, Borisov was summoned as a witness in the case. He appeared in the prosecutor's office, accompanied by GERB deputies and sympathizers. After the interrogation, his lawyer Menko Menkov commented that the former prime minister had been questioned as a witness and there was nothing new in the questions asked to him. A day later, the developer Alexander Staliyski was questioned.
The First Political Reactions
The co-chair of "Continuing the Change" Kiril Petkov commented on the requested immunity of Borisov with the words: "We have always believed in real justice, but this justice should not be a bat," he said.
The leader of "Vazrazhdane" Kostadin Kostadinov urged Borisov "to show courage and follow his example to renounce his immunity himself."
