Varna Mayor Ivan Portnih has received a summons to appear as a defendant at the Varna District Prosecutor's Office on June 7, FOCUS learned. He will have to explain two cases - "The Lake" and "The Hole" in the Center.

Employees in Varna Municipality know about the subpoena and today they review the documentation on the cases all day.

At the beginning of May this year, Mayor Ivan Portnih commented that I quote "the problem with the Plovdiv Fair is Plovdiv". At a briefing for the media, he explained that the whole case with the fair comes from Kostovo time: "Then it was privatized, and then Deputy Minister was the current leader of the BSP - Kornelia Ninova," Portnih said. According to him, then Gutsanov, who is currently her deputy in the party, and then was in the Municipal Council of Varna, slept through the rise of the shares of the Trading House - The Hole in the seaside city, it became clear from Portnih's words.

"In 2017, we get the shares for the Hole. Our only wish was to fix this plague of Varna. Nobody did anything about it. But before elections, this topic is always taken out, "Portnih explained on 10.05.2023. in Varna.

He added that the Municipality of Varna has not given a penny for the Hole. "Everything on our part is perfect," it became clear from the words of the mayor of Varna. The reason for his comment was because of the signal of MP Stella Nikolova to the Prosecutor's Office and added that more than 120 inspections had already been made on him.

Responsibility is sought for the sewerage pipe under Varna Lake. Supervising prosecutors must decide whether to remove Portnih from office.

Portnih responded to the parties that demanded his resignation

Nearly two years ago, the institutions in Varna learned about an accident of a sewer pipe that passes through Varna Lake, but for nine months later, millions of cubic meters of fecal water are already in the lake.

More than a year later, the pipe was replaced, and the dirty water stopped pouring into the lake, at least temporarily. At that time, however, the pipeline was not buried under the bottom of Varna Lake, as was the plan. In the following months, new accidents and new repairs followed. At that time, more rubbish was turning the water brown.
