Seven suspected supporters of the Islamic State terrorist organization have been arrested in several German states, DPA reported, citing federal prosecutors.
She said in a statement released this morning that the investigation was linked to an Islamic State funding network.
Four of the arrests took place in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and one each in the states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Bremen.
The detained men and women, most of whom are of German nationality, are accused of supporting a terrorist organization.
German authorities naturalized a record number of people last year.
In addition, searches were also carried out this morning in the states of Berlin, Bavaria, Bremen, Baden-Württemberg, Hamburg, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Thuringia, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, the prosecutor's office said.
