Iranian model Mahlaga Jaberi, considered one of the most beautiful women in her homeland, caught the eye at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday. The reason was her decision to appear at the glamorous events with a long black dress, in the lower end of which could be read the message "Stop the executions".

In doing so, Jaberi hopes to be able to shift the international community's focus to the executions in Iran, which she describes as "sinful."

The 33-year-old model had added a gallows around his neck to her outfit to illustrate even more vividly the problem of death sentences in her homeland.

On social media, Jaberi said the gallows was "dedicated to the Iranian people," without giving further details.

According to Amnesty International, eight people were executed last week alone, with at least a dozen more facing the same fate as they took part in anti-government protests over the death of Mahsa Amini last year.

Since the beginning of this year, 209 people have been executed in Iran, according to the head of the UN human rights department, Volker Turk.
