The discobola Silinda Morales won third place on Wednesday at the meeting in the French city of Montreuil, one of the stops of the continental tour of the king sport. In that same city, the eight-hundred-year-old Rose Mary Almanza was below the forecast and occupied the sixth place.

Silinda reached third place with a best delivery of 61.39m. The 22-year-old West Indian got her best delivery at the fifth attempt, in what meant her second international event in the current campaign.

Prior to that record, he had a sequence of 54.10 m, 59.46 m and 53.98 m in his first appearances in the throwing circle. Then he committed a null and closed the test with another discreet height 57.15 m.

However, the mark achieved by Silinda represents the second best achieved in her career in tournaments outside Cuba, after the 61.73 m last April in Venezuela and which also mean her best shipment of the year.

The test was queen by local veteran Melina Robert-Michon, with a good throw of 65.49 m, the longest for her in 2023. In second place finished the Brazilian Izabela da Silva, owner of 62.61 m.

For her part, in the 800 meters flat Rose Mary Almanza did not have a good presentation and came sixth with a poor time of 2: 03.07. After dropping below two minutes less than a week ago, now the several times Olympic and world semifinalist failed to approach her best times of the year and yielded to rivals of much lesser palmares.

In the end, the first place went to the South African Prudence Sekgodiso (2:00.72), followed by the British Jemma Reekie (2:00.90) and the Swiss Lore Hoffman (2:01.53).

The next appearance of Cuban athletes on the summer tour will take place on June 2 in the Italian city of Florence, during the third stop of the Diamond League. There are inscribed the triplist Lázaro Martínez, the four-hundred-year-old Roxana Gómez and the high jumper Luis Enrique Zayas.
