Tunnel work completed under Coastal Road in Mumbai

Mumbai:

Everyone is waiting for the Mumbai Coastal Road being built on the western seaboard of Mumbai. It is expected that this road will be completed by December 2023. The biggest obstacle in the completion of this road was the tunnel, whose work was completed on Tuesday. This tunnel has also been dug through a TBM machine on Tuesday. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were also present when the excavation work was completed. It has been described as a historic moment. This is also because the TBM machine with which this tunnel has been dug is the largest machine in the country.

No toll tax will have to be paid

The specialty of this coastal road is that it is also inside the ground, along the seashore and also goes through the bridge built over the sea. About 10 km of this road is part of the tunnel from Marine Drive to Worli. After the construction of this tunnel, the distance from Marine Drive to Worli, which was earlier half an hour, has now been reduced to just seven to eight minutes. The special thing is that no toll tax will have to be paid for this.

The tunnel was dug with the help of the country's largest TBM (tunnel digging machine). This is a historic moment for the country. Prior to this TBM, a tunnel was dug from Priyadarshini to Marine Drive and the tunnel work from Marine Drive to Priyadarshini has also been completed. After the completion of this road by the end of this year, it will take only eight minutes to reach Worli from Marine Drive.
