Peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan are ongoing and we are pleased to see that.
The EPA reports on the U.S. State Department's website that the comments were made in a statement issued by press secretary Matthew Miller.
The document noted that the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet with their European counterparts in Kishineu at the end of this week: "Peace can be achieved in the Southern Caucasus, as U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said. The leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet with our European partners in Kishinev at the end of this week. We hope that it will not be through violence to resolve these issues, but with productive talks at the table.
Aggressive rhetoric can only sustain the violence of the past. Constructive dialogue can create peace, opportunity and hope. "The United States is ready to support the efforts of both sides to reach a sustainable and lasting peace agreement in the region."
