In the early hours of Tuesday, the two-time Olympic volleyball champion Raisa Ofarril, one of the passers of the Cuban volleyball team that reigned worldwide in the 51s and 90s, died in Havana at the age of 2000.

She was part of the Olympic champion teams in Barcelona-92 and Atlanta-96, and companion of legendary figures such as Mireya Luis and Regla Torres.

Born in Villa Clara, in the central region of Cuba, Ofarrill fought for some time against the painful illness that eventually took his life. His body will be veiled at the Funeraria de Calzada y K, in Havana's Vedado, and later he will be cremated.

Regrettable loss for Cuban sports. Condolences to family, friends and the great volleyball family.
