Secretary for Justice Mr Lam Ting-kwok continued his visit to Beijing today (30 December), visiting the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the National Development and Reform Commission. He met with Ying Yong, Chief Procurator of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, to discuss strengthening judicial exchanges and cooperation between the two places and enhancing personnel training.


During the meeting between Bamboo and Cong Liang, Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, the two sides exchanged views on building Hong Kong into a national training base for foreign-related legal personnel.


Lin Dingguo visited the Supreme People's Procuratorate this morning (28th) to meet with Procurator General Ying Yong to discuss strengthening judicial exchanges and cooperation between Hong Kong and the Mainland, as well as implementing the "Minutes of the Talks between the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Department of Justice of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Legal Exchange and Cooperation", strengthening the study and training of personnel from both sides, exchanging work experience, and discussing important topics.

In the afternoon, Lin Dingguo and his entourage met with Cong Liang, Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, and exchanged views on topics such as promoting Hong Kong as an international legal and dispute resolution service center in the Asia-Pacific region, participating in and contributing to the national work plan for the "Belt and Road" construction, and building Hong Kong into a national training base for foreign-related rule of law talents.

As for his first day in Beijing yesterday (29th), he visited the Supreme People's Court, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and the State Supervision Commission. During his meeting with Zhang Jun, President of the Supreme People's Court, he discussed in depth the strengthening of judicial assistance arrangements between the Mainland and Hong Kong, deepening the convergence of the legal systems of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and promoting the training of foreign-related rule of law talents in the country, and studied the specific implementation work.

Afterwards, Lin Dingguo visited the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and met with Weng Jaming, Deputy Director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, to discuss the implementation of measures to better utilize the advantages of Hong Kong's common law system, and establish an exchange mechanism to enable SOEs to learn more about Hong Kong's legal system and dispute resolution services. In addition, the two sides also discussed how to help the country build a team of foreign-related legal talents.

Lin Dingguo also met with Zhang Fuhai, Deputy Director of the National Supervision Commission, to discuss strengthening legal exchanges, cooperation and personnel training between the two places on important topics such as anti-corruption and anti-money laundering.
