(CNN Spanish) -- The ultimate triumph for an NBA team is, of course, to add one more championship to its franchise, that the title cabinets get bigger and bigger.

However, when winning the NBA Finals, there are also glories and individual awards, including the championship ring that all players on the winning team receive.

Have you ever wondered what these rings are made of and how much they are worth? Actually, they are two questions that do not have exact answers, but here we present an overview to approximate us.

The materials of the NBA championship rings

These rings usually have hundreds of diamonds, which equates to thousands of dollars. However, the number of jewels they have changes every year.

Sometimes they have more diamonds, sometimes less. Why does this happen? It is not because they want to make them of lesser or greater value, but that each of the details added by the jewelers in charge of the design has a specific meaning.

For example, the Los Angeles Lakers (top NBA winners along with the Celtics, both with 17 titles) have a page completely dedicated to their championship rings, where you can read the details that all of them have.

To give us an idea of what they contain, let's look at the details of the winning rings of the Milwaukee Bucks, who were crowned in the NBA in the 2020-2021 season.

(It should be noted that the jewelry that designed these rings for the Bucks was Jason of Beverly Hills, who in addition to those designed "previously those of the 2009, 2010, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2020 editions," the NBA and jewelry point out.)

  • The Bucks' championship ring has more than 400 diamonds.
  • Of this total, 360 diamonds at the top represented "the total wins since the owner bought the team," the NBA says.
  • Then, 16 emerald-shaped diamonds on the left side of the ring represent the Bucks' 16 wins in the 2020-2021 postseason.
  • Meanwhile, another 16 emerald-shaped diamonds on the right side refer to the 16 divisional titles that the Bucks have in their history.
  • "In total, there are approximately 4.14 carats of emeralds representing Milwaukee's 414 area code. The 50 round stones on the inner bezel symbolize 50 years since the team's last championship victory.
  • The Bucks ring has the Larry O'Brien Trophy on the front face, which is composed of an exclusive batch of yellow gold of 65.3% purity, which represents the team's winning percentage that season.
  • Everything is made up of details in the championship rings. The Bucks even has a QR code that, when scanned, shows you a video with the most memorable moments of the 2020-2021 season.

How much are they worth?

Being a collector's item, NBA rings are not exactly priced. However, we can approach the cost with what happened with former basketball player Lamar Odom in 2020.

In that year, Odom pawned his two NBA championship rings, which he got by being champion with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010.

They were then taken to an auction, where the total sale was estimated at $100,000 ($50,000 each).

You can also find official replicas in the equipment stores. For example, the replica of the Bucks ring is priced at $150, according to the team's official store.
