Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge met Gehlot and Pilot on Monday.

New Delhi:

The Congress may have presented a picture of solidarity between Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, claiming to have resolved the long-standing dispute between them, but sources close to Pilot say their issues have not been resolved.

The Congress had on Monday said after a marathon meeting of party president Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi with Gehlot and Pilot that the two leaders agreed to contest the upcoming assembly elections together and the issues between them would be resolved by the high command.

The party's organisational general secretary KC Venugopal had also said that Gehlot and Pilot have agreed to the party's proposal. However, he did not give any details about this.

But sources close to Pilot said on Tuesday that no major issue between the two prominent Congress leaders of Rajasthan was resolved in Monday's meeting.

On the other hand, Congress sources say that during the meeting, Gehlot and Pilot expressed full faith in the high command and both were assured by the leadership that they would be given full respect.

Sources said Kharge and Rahul Gandhi first had a two-hour meeting with Gehlot and then with Pilot separately and later sat together for a while.

On Monday night, when Gehlot and Pilot appeared in front of the media along with Congress organization general secretary KC Venugopal, both of them did not talk. His expressions looked a little uncomfortable.

Pilot had recently put forward three demands — dissolution and restructuring of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), compensation to youths affected by the leak of government exam papers and a high-level inquiry into allegations of corruption against the previous BJP government led by Vasundhara Raje.

On the other hand, sources close to Chief Minister Gehlot say that the Chief Minister briefed the high command about the ground impact of his government's work.

He said Gehlot apprised the top Congress leaders about the social equations of the state being formed under different circumstances.
