An escaped prisoner in the Czech Republic has been found in an uncomfortable hiding place, a subway tunnel in Prague.

According to police, passengers on the Prague metro heard screams coming from a tunnel at a station in the city center. Traffic was stopped so that people from the emergency services could enter the tunnel. Firefighters and police found a man trapped in the ventilation shaft and freed him from the difficult situation. They did not immediately recognize the fugitive. It was only after a routine check of personal data that police realized that the man had escaped from an open-type prison on Friday.

The 22-year-old man was sent back to prison.
