Ten alleged criminals were killed Monday in a confrontation between police officers and members of a criminal group on the federal highway to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, Nuevo Leon Security Secretary Gerardo Palacios said on his Twitter account.

The official added that these subjects were traveling in three armored vans.

Four police officers were injured in the incident, three by a vehicle overturning and one by a gunshot, Palacios added.

He also reported that weapons were seized, including grenades, tactical equipment, ammunition, and armored trucks.
