"Rahul Gandhi takes information from the Chinese ambassador, but he does not listen to our foreign minister," he said.

Mumbai:

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched a new attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for criticising the Indian government's policies towards China and said that Rahul Gandhi should be ashamed of his remarks. Nirmala Sitharaman was talking to reporters in Mumbai on Monday.

"He (Rahul Gandhi) should be ashamed of taking a dig at the Indian government on the China issue... He is briefed by the Chinese ambassador, but he does not listen to what our External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar says on this issue."

Nirmala Sitharaman's statement comes weeks after External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar referred to Rahul Gandhi's meeting with the Chinese ambassador to India during the Doklam crisis. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had attacked the Indian government, saying that India lost new territory due to China's salute slicing strategy.

In response to former Congress president Rahul Gandhi's criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Indian government's handling of relations with China, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had said, "I would have been willing to learn a lesson from Rahul Gandhi on China, but I have come to know that he (Rahul Gandhi) was taking lessons from the Chinese ambassador on China."

"Whenever the External Affairs Minister (S Jaishankar) speaks in Parliament on this issue, Congress party leaders either walk out (walk out of the House) or shout loudly to disrupt the External Affairs Minister's speech," Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said.
