The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to establish May 8 as the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II.

This became known at a meeting of the parliament on May 29.

Thus, 9278 people's deputies voted for the relevant bill No. 317.

In addition, by the decision of the Council on May 9, Ukraine will celebrate Europe Day.

Recall that in early May, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on celebrating Europe Day on May 9 together with the European Union. At the same time, the head of state proposed to establish May 8 as the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II.

Commenting on his decision and proposal, Zelensky noted that now, like 80 years ago, Ukraine is suffering again because of the war, and it is Europe that helps to resist Russian aggression.

After that, Victory Day from May 9 to May 8 was proposed by Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă.
