A total of 55,955 fourth graders are expected to sit for the national external assessment in Bulgarian language and literature (BEL) and in mathematics today and tomorrow, the press center of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) announced.

Today is the BLL exam, where students will take a written test within 60 minutes. For children with special educational needs, 30 minutes more are provided.

This year, the Bulgarian language and literature test includes dictation recorded on an audio file, language tasks with an elective answer, text for reading comprehension and test tasks to it, as well as a creative speech task requiring a free response.

Why do seniors choose English or biology?

The math exam is on Tuesday, May 30. As in previous years, the test consists of 25 tasks, of which 18 with an elective answer, five with a short free answer, one task with an extended free response and one text problem with three subconditions.

The exams begin at 10:00 a.m., and students must be in their seats in the hall no later than 9:45 a.m. They must write with a black ballpoint pen, and a line, compass and triangle can be used for the math exam.

The marks from the national external assessment at the end of the fourth grade are in points and are entered in the certificate of completed primary education. The maximum number of points on each exam is 100.

The results will be announced by June 9.
