Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Hristo Alexiev and Pakistan's Ambassador Mariam Aftab signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Cooperation between the two countries. The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTS).

Minister Alexiev said that the signing of the memorandum is another step towards the good relations between Bulgaria and Pakistan. This is the first document in the field of transport to be signed between the two countries, he added. The memorandum will lead to better cooperation in the field of transport, improved customs and port services and trade in maritime transport. This document will allow for better working and working conditions for sailors flying the flag of Pakistan or Bulgaria, so this is a useful step that we need to build on, he added.

Maritime transport is an extremely important part of trade and economic cooperation and I hope that this agreement will provide a useful framework and incentive to increase and deepen bilateral cooperation in this important area for the benefit of both sides, said Ambassador Aftab and thanked Minister Alexiev and his team for their support and assistance in the process of signing the agreement. I look forward to working together, she added.
