Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken cognizance of the strong thunderstorm in Malwa region.

Ujjain:

Two people were killed and three others injured due to a strong storm in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain district, police said on Sunday. In the Mahakal Lok Mandir corridor, which was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2022, six of the seven Saptarishi idols were uprooted and two damaged. No one was injured as six idols were uprooted in the corridor of the temple.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken cognizance of the strong thunderstorm in Malwa region. He has discussed with Ujjain Collector and Ujjain Divisional Commissioner over phone and directed them for relief work.

The Chief Minister was informed by the officials that a natural disaster-like situation arose due to the strong storm in Ujjain and surrounding areas of Malwa region, in which unfortunately 2 people (1 in Ujjain and 1 in Nagda) died and 3 people were injured. About 50 trees and many electric poles have also been uprooted.

Officials said that there are 155 statues in Mahakal Lok, out of which 6 have been broken, all of which will be installed by the contractor under the defect liability period.

After the demolition of the statues, the opposition Congress alleged major irregularities in the construction work of the temple corridor and demanded strict action against those responsible for the shoddy work.
