Greece has increased the minimum value of investment in property under the Golden Visa program.

However, Britons are massively buying homes in our southern neighbor to move freely in EU countries, real estate agencies say.

The British headed to Greece because getting a "golden visa" in many areas requires an investment of 250,<> euros. Foreigners with higher opportunities buy homes in the expensive regions of Attica, Santorini, Mykonos and Thessaloniki for half a million euros, according to local agencies.

In particular, the British prefer the islands and mainly Crete because of the warm climate and the fast procedure for obtaining a European visa - in just two months. They are looking primarily for new homes because of the good quality of construction and the possibility of higher rent if they do not live in it.

One-third of property transactions are aimed at obtaining a "golden visa".
