Several wrestlers were detained by the police after the ruckus on Sunday.

New Delhi:

The tussle between the wrestlers and the Delhi Police is increasing at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. On Monday, the police uprooted the tents set up for the wrestlers' performance. The police have said that they will no longer be allowed to protest anywhere. On Sunday, when the wrestlers were detained, Bajrang Punia had said, "Shoot us." Now Bajrang Punia has replied to the former IPS officer. "We are ready. Tell me where to come to eat the pill."

What did the former IPS officer tweet?
Former IPS officer Dr. NC Asthana wrote on Twitter, "If needed, we will also shoot. But, not by what you say. Right now, it is just dragged and thrown away like a sack of garbage. Section 129 gives the police the right to shoot. Under the right circumstances, that wish will also be fulfilled. But to know that, it is necessary to be educated. See you again at the postmortem table!"

Bajrang Punia retweeted the former IPS officer's tweet and wrote, "This IPS officer is talking about shooting us. Brothers are standing in front, tell me where to come to take the bullet... I swear I won't show my back, I will eat your bullet on my chest. That's what's left to do with us now."

This IPS officer is talking about shooting us. Brother is standing in front, tell me where to come to take the bullet... I swear I won't show my back, I will eat your bullet on the chest. That's what is left, now it's okay to do it with us. https://t.co/jgZofGj5QC

Who is Asthana?
Asthana is the same officer who wrote an article against police repression in 2021. Nc Asthana has served as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Kerala. Prior to that, he has also served as ADG in BSF and CRPF.

Let us tell you that on Sunday, there was a fierce ruckus between Delhi Police and wrestlers at Jantar Mantar.
Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, Sangeeta Phogat and many others were raising slogans against wrestling federation president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh near the new Parliament. The wrestlers were trying to cross the barricades close to Parliament but were stopped by the Delhi Police.

According to the
report, there was a scuffle between the police and the wrestlers during this time. After this, the police detained all the wrestlers and their supporters, including Vinesh-Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, and evacuated Jantar Mantar. Police have imposed Section 144 at Jantar Mantar and said that now wrestlers will not be allowed to return there.

All wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, have been staging a sit-in
at Jantar Mantar since April 23. Earlier on January 23, wrestlers had levelled allegations of sexual harassment against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. However, after the intervention of the Sports Ministry, the wrestlers ended their sit-in.

The Sports Ministry had then formed a committee to investigate the allegations being made by the wrestlers. Now after three months, the wrestlers are protesting again. The wrestlers have now raised questions on the committee itself. They have also demanded the arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
