Ukraine introduces special pensions for persons who have the status of fighters for independence in the XX century, recognized for special merits. The size of these pensions is set at two subsistence minimums for persons with disabilities, which currently amounts to UAH 5016.

Writes about it "Observer".

Draft law No. 8032, which provides for the introduction of such pensions, was adopted in the second reading by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on May 29. The vote was supported by 313 people's deputies, said Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a representative of the Holos faction.

According to the draft law, it is assumed that the size of pensions will increase every year. The status of pension recipients is regulated by two laws. The first of them – "On the legal status and honoring the memory of fighters for Ukraine's independence in the XX century" – was adopted in 2015. Another law – "On the rehabilitation of victims of repressions of the communist totalitarian regime of 1917-1991" – concerns persons who have been subjected to political or religious repression, including imprisonment or forced placement in a psychiatric institution without proper grounds.

All these persons must be rehabilitated in accordance with the law. The bill provides for the establishment of pensions for special merits for rehabilitated fighters for Ukraine's independence in the XX century, who were deprived of their liberty during the Soviet period, explained MP Volodymyr Viatrovych.
