(CNN Spanish) -- The Spanish poet, playwright, novelist and essayist Antonio Gala died on Sunday, according to a message on Twitter from Editorial Planeta.

"We will always remember him for his literary legacy and for his support of young creators. See you forever, Antonio," says the publication of the publishing house.

For his part, Pedro Sánchez, president of the Spanish Government, reacted on his Twitter account and sent his condolences to family and friends. Sánchez referred to Gala as one of the greatest writers. "Antonio Gala knew how to capture human sensitivity through his narrative, his poetry and his theater. May his literature continue to inspire us and endure," said Pedro Sánchez.

The 92-year-old writer was recognized for works such as "The Crimson Manuscript," with which he won the Planeta Prize, and the poetic work "Intimate Enemy." In Spain, Antonio Gala was also recognized with the National Prize for Literature, the Calderón de la Barca National Prize, the City of Barcelona Award, the Foro Teatral Award, the Spectator and Critics Award and the Don Quixote de Oro Award, among others, according to the author's biography on the Grupo Planeta website.
