Big meeting of opposition parties to be held in Patna

New Delhi:

Opposition parties are going to hold a big meeting in Patna on the 12th of next month (June 12). According to sources, in this meeting, the strategy for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 can be discussed. A senior opposition leader told NDTV that it was a "preparatory meeting". Understand this in the main meeting, the main meeting will be held later. The decision on the date of the meeting came after 20 opposition parties came together and boycotted the inauguration of the new Parliament by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.

"The president should have inaugurated the new parliament building"

Opposition parties accused the government of neglecting President Draupadi Murmu, saying as the country's first citizen, she should have been allowed to lead the inauguration ceremony. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge had tweeted about this and said that she (President) alone represents the government, the opposition and every citizen equally. She is the first citizen of India. The inauguration of the new Parliament building by him will be a symbol of the government's commitment to democratic values and constitutional dignity.

This is the date fixed

The date of the meeting has been fixed just days after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who volunteered to act as an interlocutor for opposition unity ahead of the 2024 general elections. He had met Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in Delhi.

Nitish Kumar is trying to unite the opposition.

Nitish Kumar is planning to bring all like-minded opposition parties together. And for this, leaders like Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav have been able to convince them. The special thing is that these are the same leaders who have been aggressive about the Congress.

Mamata also with Nitish

Mamata Banerjee has already put her stamp of approval on Nitish Kumar's proposal. He had said a few days ago that only the party in which the region or state is strongest should contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections by leading the opposition. He had also said that he would support the Congress in 200 seats.
