Electricity tariffs may increase to UAH 2.88 per kWh, that is, by an average of UAH 150-200.

This was stated by member of the parliamentary committee on energy, housing and communal services Serhii Nagornyak on the air of a telethon.

According to him, it is necessary to remove the threshold to simplify accounting. This must be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers during a government sitting.

"Because when there is a threshold of up to 150 kW or higher, there may be certain manipulations. And in order to remove them, they remove the threshold and make a single tariff for the entire population – UAH 2.88," he explained.

When asked whether this would somehow affect subsidies, he said no. They will be received after raising tariffs.

Growth of electricity tariffs

At the end of April, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine warned of an increase in electricity tariffs before the 2023-2024 heating season. They called it a forced step, as the next heating season may be more difficult than the previous one.

Earlier, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities announced that the upper limits of electricity tariffs could increase from UAH 1.68 to UAH 2.4 or by UAH 2.8 per kWh.
