Delhi Police files case against wrestlers

New Delhi: On one hand, PM Modi is inaugurating the new Parliament building today, on the other hand, the protesting wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar were moving towards the new Parliament. But he was detained by the Delhi Police shortly after. At the same time, now the Delhi Police has registered a case against the wrestlers on charges of rioting, unlawful assembly, obstructing the work of the police during duty, after which the difficulties of the protesting wrestlers may increase.

Delhi Police has registered a case against the wrestlers under sections 147, 149, 186, 188, 332, 353 of the IPC. An FIR has also been lodged under Section 3 of the PDPP Act. Delhi Police has completely evacuated Jantar Mantar. Apart from wrestlers, all protesters were removed from Jantar Mantar. The wrestlers' tents and other belongings were also removed and Jantar Mantar was cleaned.

The athletes have been demanding the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Singh over allegations of sexual harassment and intimidation. The 'Mahila Samman Mahapanchayat' was called by wrestlers in Delhi today to protest against WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Tight security arrangements were made in Delhi. "We had earlier told the wrestlers not to do any anti-national activities today, but they did not listen to us. We have detained everyone and evacuated Jantar Mantar.
