More than 40 Russian drones were shot down overnight over Kyiv, officials in the city's military administration said. At least two deaths and two injuries are reported.

At least two people were killed and two others wounded in Kyiv after Russian drone strikes on districts of the Ukrainian capital, municipal authorities said early Sunday.

Falling drone debris near a gas station injured a 35-year-old woman in the city's Solomyanskyi district, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitshko said, adding that a 41-year-old man was also killed in the district following Russian drone strikes.

Klitschko added via Telegram that the wreckage of a drone damaged a seven-story building in the Solomyanskyi district.

In Holosiivskyi district, at least one person was killed and another injured after a fire broke out on the third floor of a seven-storey non-residential building, Kyiv's military administration said.

The fire in an area of 700 square meters in the Holosiivskyi district was brought under control, but buildings in an area of 1,000 square meters have been damaged, Klitschko said.

In the Pecherskyi district, a fire broke out on the roof of a nine-storey building due to falling drone debris, Klitschko said.

"The air defense forces have already intercepted more than 20 UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) heading towards Kyiv," Klitschko said. "But a new wave of drones is heading towards the capital."
