The Vice President of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, received on Friday morning Her Excellency Mrs. Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda, Vice President of the Gabonese Republic.

At the meeting, both sides reviewed the current state of bilateral relations, and ratified the bonds of brotherhood that unite the two nations.

Valdés Mesa thanked the African country for its support for the resolution against the blockade that is presented every year at the UN General Assembly.

For his part, his Gabonese counterpart recognized Cuba's contribution to the training of human resources, while highlighting the work of Cuban medical collaboration that, since 2019, provides services in his country.

The Vice-President was accompanied by Mrs. Yolande Nyonda, Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs; Mr. Jean-Claude Monssounda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cuba, and Mr. Faustin Yve Nguiend Nickolo, Special Adviser to the President of the Republic.

Participating on the Cuban side, Elio Rodríguez, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Luis Amorós Núñez, director of Sub-Saharan Africa of the Foreign Ministry.
