Ukraine has appealed to Germany with an official request, in which it asks to provide the Ukrainian military with Taurus cruise missiles.

According to the publication, the request for Taurus supplies came to Germany from the Ukrainian side in recent days, a spokeswoman for the German Ministry of Defense said in a comment to the publication.

However, she did not name the number of missiles requested by Ukraine.

The Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung writes that President Volodymyr Zelensky and Chancellor Olaf Scholz talked in Berlin about supplying Ukraine with German missiles in early May.

The Taurus cruise missile is launched from a fighter jet and can deliver a 400-kilogram warhead for more than 500 kilometers. The rocket is the German equivalent of the British Storm Shadow.
