Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, said he did not accuse the president's office of "blindness" before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

He announced this on May 25 in an interview with NV magazine.

According to Budanov, he began to say that Russia would launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, back in the fall of 2021, when the President's Office denied such a possibility.

The head of the DIU noted that he did not accuse Bankova of "blindness", since the country's leadership could not talk about the reality of the threat from the northern direction, since the exact date of the invasion was not known.

"There were still some steps that they tried to implement to prevent the war from happening. But closer to the date when everything fell into place, you will not see a single political statement by the top leadership that there will be no war," Budanov said.

The head of the DIU added that he received fairly accurate information about the desire of Russian President Vladimir Putin to start a full-scale war from his agents, which has grown tenfold over the past few years. Budanov hinted that it was also about people close to the Kremlin.

We will remind, Budanov told how he almost died during the operation in the Donbass: went across the front line.
