New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Parliament building on Sunday. All preparations have been completed for the opening ceremony. This newly constructed Parliament building is in the shape of a triangle. Modern communication facilities are also available in the new building of Parliament House. Sengol will also be installed next to the Lok Sabha Speaker's seat when the new Parliament building is inaugurated on Sunday. NDTV spoke exclusively to Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi about the specialty of the new Parliament building and the importance of Sengol.

"We should be proud of India's history"

Speaking to NDTV, Lekhi said that Indian culture and art will be included in the new Parliament building. "But in modern India, when we are celebrating the Amrit Utsav of independence and when the Amrit Kaal started, there could not have been a better beginning of the Amrit Kaal when the country had its own new Parliament building," he said. Everything that reminds us of India's history should be proud of it. It includes the crafts of India, the traditions of India and the history of India and all this will be revealed through this new Parliament.

"The earlier people did not depict the history of India properly"

Meenakshi Lekhi also spoke on the controversy over 'Sengol'. "I don't blame those who are raising questions about Sengol because of the reason. The reason is that these people are unaware of the best traditions of India. And the reason for their ignorance is that the history of India was never shown properly, if it had been shown, then perhaps these people would not have talked about this way. I want to tell you that in the Vedic period, the king was selected through an election. That is, almost today's Prime Minister was called Rajan. Rajan used to have a title.

From the point of view of elections, everyone was one and everyone was equal. Then there were traditions in India and there was also religion in India. Islam came in the seventh century. That is, even before that there were arrangements and governments. But what changed was that the definition of a law, rule and system that religion had was changed. They started looking at religion from a narrow perspective. That narrowness is still found in their language. Religion meant the right rules, laws and right conduct of the country, that was religion. Your conduct should be right, and what is the conduct of a king who serves his society, cares for his society and protects his society? That is the right conduct. And can't steal and cheat.

"The law, law and religion of the land are the best"

To those who are unaware of the traditions of the country, I want to tell them that everything that is good is for everyone, it is not for any particular religion. According to the tradition of this country, from the Vedic period to medieval India, when the king was crowned, the king used to stand up and say that I am the best, then the state priest used to hit him on the head and say that you are not the best. The rule, law, religion of the country is the best and you have got this post to protect religion.

"Sengol is a symbol of religion"

Meenakshi Lekhi further said that the tradition of 'rule of law' in this country is very old. You don't remember your democratic traditions and the good things you have. If even after celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav of independence, it does not reach the people of the country even during the Amrit period, then it means what are you doing? The good things in the country have to be told to everyone and religion should not be taken narrowly. Whatever religion you have in your personal life, but there is only one religion in the polity and that is patriotism. And in that patriotism, you cannot do things like theft, assault, hooliganism, dishonesty. The king cannot be corrupt. But this country has seen that too. So those who are unaware of the tradition of this country only say such things. Let me tell you that Sengol is a symbol of religion. The Sengol is now, it has been built with south Indian tradition.

"The Prime Minister is dedicated to the soul of the country"

At that time, C Rajagopalachari was the Governor General. Talking to him, he was aware of South Indian traditions. So he built this Sengol by talking to them from the South Indian monastery and goldsmith. He was linking this system to the system of the Chola Empire. But it is not limited to the Chola Empire, even before this, Shivaji, Ashoka and all those who lived believed it. This is because it is a symbol of religious punishment. And according to the system of the Chola Empire, he was a devotee of Shiva at the time of Chola, so Nandi who is a servant of Shiva.

That is, when the king has a sengol in his hand, he has to remember that Shiva is the soul of this country. So just as Nandi is dedicated to Shiva, similarly the Prime Minister of the country will be dedicated to the soul of this country. And the sense of dedication, the four legs of Nandi, shows the four principles. In which truth, law, justice and penance. What Nandi is is a sense of dedication and four principles. It is a symbol of showing the system on which the state will run. It is a symbol of the fact that the correct understanding and knowledge of the symbol should change everyone's eyes.
