Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban sent a congratulatory letter to President Ilham Əliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The EPA reports that the letter says:

"Dear Mr. President!

Let me extend my sincere congratulations to you on the national holiday of the Republic of Azerbaijan — Independence Day. Cooperation between Hungary and Azerbaijan is exemplary and supported by the continuous development of our economic and political relations.

I am glad that in January this year we raised ties between our countries to an expanded level of strategic co-operation.

I can assure you that the Hungarian government is committed to working to further develop relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan on a multilateral basis within the framework of cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Turkish states. I am confident that our productive partnership will serve the well-being of the citizens of both countries.

I wish you good health and new success in your responsibilities."
